A group of Ghost Fishing UK divers visited Brighton from the 4-6th October 2023. Over the three days, nearly 300kg of ghost gear including rope, line and pots were recovered. With good weather and calm seas, a trawl net was removed from the Lancer II and multiple bags of rope and net from the Ramsgarth. Eight pots were also recovered from the Ramsgarth.
Ropes and lines were sent to the Ocean Recovery project, while pots were either returned to local fishermen or broken down for recycling. With both wrecks now looking much cleaner than before, this was a highly successful mission for all involved.
